Day 29
I could hear the faint cries for help, but I couldn’t locate them. The words were muffled but sounded panicked. Quickly, I counted my kids. I’ve had my nieces this week so I had a few extra. I could only locate 4 of them. Of course the one missing would be, Cash. All I could see in my living room was a tower of pillows from a fort the kids made. Looked in the fort, and no Cash was to be found. But I could see two little feet upside down behind the couch sticking out. Apparently, he managed to wedge himself behind the backside of the couch and the wall and couldn’t get back up! You’d think I could just pluck him out, but true to Cash fashion, he not only wedged himself behind the couch but his arm was underneath the couch, so when I pulled it was catching his arm and hurting. I kept telling him to be calm and I would help him. To make a long story short, the couch is connected together so I couldn’t move the whole thing, its too heavy. So I ran to the garage to get my sliders that move furniture to make it easier. I came running back in like a scene from Mrs. Doubtfire, “Help is on the way dear! Help is on the way!” Jumping over shoes, chairs, legos and monster trucks!
When we need help, God comes running like that too. Except, I’m sure it’s less frantic and He’s probably already standing in front of us waiting patiently for us to just ask. The scene probably looks so calm and gentle from a Heavenly view. Earthside we are panicked and frantic but in the heavenly realm He’s just standing there, one step ahead of our panic, ready to take control. He’s not just ready to help, but we have to remember he already has the solution to our problem. I love the fact He gave us free will to figure it out on our own if we must, but I also don’t like free will because I often come to God in a frantic state when I’m at the end of my rope. Did you know that women speak about 20,000 words a day, while men only speak about 7,000? Which means, while we are more inclined to ask for help, I think a lot of men, don’t and won’t ask for help. Today, my prayer is that our men will be quick to ask God for help. In any and every situation they feel like they can’t do it in their own strength.
Prayer Prompts:
Pray that your husband knows there’s not a single situation, He cannot help with.
“My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:2
Pray that your husband knows that the Lord is right beside him, always.
“For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” Isaiah 41:13
Pray that he will cry out for help when he needs it.
“Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me! O Lord, be my helper!” Psalm 30:10
Lord, Thank you for always being a constant source of help. I pray that my husband will use his voice to cry out to you when he needs your help. I pray his pride would not hinder his desire to ask You. I pray he humbly seeks your guidance, wisdom and discernment over anything and everything he encounters in life. Nothing is too big or too small for You! In Jesus name, Amen.
Challenge
It’s the weekend! I’m sure you’ve got lots of fall activities planned! While you’re out, give him a little PDA in public. A little hand holding…wrap your arms around him at the pumpkin patch, rub his back at dinner or hold onto his leg. Physical touch is the name of the game this weekend 🙂
